In July 2000, Sir Lancelot was diagnosed with White Line Disease in his right front foot.  These pictures show the foot shortly after resection to remove the diseased hoof tissue.  After the resection, medication was applied daily for the first month.  Because the foot was so unprotected, Lancelot was completely off work and had to wear a protective rubber boot whenever he was out of his stall, such as in turnout.  The two pictures on the right show the same foot about three months later after it was reconstructed with a fiberglass/epoxy polymer.  At last a shoe and the ability to return to work!  It is interesting to note that when the shoe was nailed on, only two nails were in actual hoof wall; the other six were in the reconstruction material.
